The work included two tasks. The first task was the installation of a new chemical injection system and mixing on the effluent pipeline. The chemicals included; caustic soda, sodium hypochlorite and fluoride. All the chemical lines were double contained with leak detection system and the caustic soda was welded stainless steel. The second task was the decommissioning of an existing MIOX scrubber. The scrubber was fully crystallized. Prior to removal of the scrubber the caustic was neutralized with acid and then properly disposed of.
